- Singapore Zoo — 2.5 hr. $44 adult, 8:30am-6pm. The open-concept enclosures use moats and rock walls instead of cages; the Fragile Forest free-flight aviary and the Wild Africa savanna are the two anchor exhibits. Free guided keeper-talks every 30 min, schedule posted at the entrance.

- Optional Night Safari — 2 hr. $56 adult, 6:30pm-12am. Adjacent to the Zoo. Skip if you have done either the Zoo or River Wonders that same day; the animal overlap is 40% and the tram tour repeats by night what you saw in daylight.
- Total: ~5 km walking inside parks; 3 MRT segments, 2 Mandai shuttle rides.
Traveller Tips
- Day 3 only works on a clear-weather day; the Singapore Zoo and River Wonders are 80% outdoor and 30-min storms hit most afternoons May-November. Bring a light poncho ($2 at any FairPrice) or shift the zoo to a different day if the morning forecast shows red on the NEA weather app.
- Skip the Night Safari unless you have already done one major Mandai park; the $56 adult ticket overlaps 40% with the Zoo's day-tour animal list and the tram-only access means no walking exploration. Better use of the evening: the free Garden Rhapsody at the Supertree Grove from Day 1's itinerary, or the Marina Barrage roof walk for the Marina Bay skyline at full evening illumination (open 24 hours, free, 1.2 km from Gardens by the Bay South).
- The Mandai Khatib Shuttle is free with any Mandai park ticket; the SMRT 138 city bus from Ang Mo Kio to the Zoo costs $1.50 SimplyGo but adds 20 min versus the shuttle. The shuttle wins on every count except weekday rush hour 5-7pm.
- Singapore Botanic Gardens opens at 5am — the only major attraction with pre-dawn access. The orchid garden inside opens at 8:30am, but the rest of the 82-hectare UNESCO site is walkable from sunrise without paying.
- Carry $20-30 in $2 and $5 notes on Day 3 for shuttle tips, the orchid garden entry, and incidental hawker food at the Zoo and Mandai food courts. PayNow QR works at most counters but the older Mandai vendors run cash only.
